So we launched. We got some feedback. And we'll make sure you're heard. Welcome to the trailer for the masterminds behind the mics. These are the wonderful souls bringing you their time and unsolicited dad jokes. First up is our host, our Maestro, was just handed a certificate from his residency for an award of being most likely to be found at the gym.
Dr. Amayo:Hi, this is Dr. Amayo I just finished my psych residency and now I am currently a C/L fellow.
Thanh:Our co-hosts. Just won a psychiatry faculty of the year award. He's blushing over there right now, but I can say that he is the only attending. That went up on stage and you could see a patient list still hanging out from his back pocket. Talk about dedication.
Dr. Handratta:My name is Dr. Venkatesh Handratta I did my fellowship from Georgetown University in consultation and liaison, psychiatry.
Thanh:And then we have our assistant producer student doctor Edmund. I just want to say his little hidden talent is that he's quite humble about a lot of his skills
Edmund:Hi everyone. My name is Edmund and I'm a fourth year medical student, and, I am hoping to one day be like these wonderful hosts as a future psychiatrist.
Thanh:And then there's me, the executive producer, the guy who decided on the background music today. I'm a first year child adolescent psychiatry fellow. Uh, my name is to Wynn. Some of my child patients called me Dr. Gyan. So why do we think that this podcast is important?
Dr. Amayo:There's not a lot of podcasts or information or textbooks out there that deals a lot with
Edmund:the ways that attending psychiatrists think about different issues
Dr. Handratta:And it can also be actually used by attending psychiatrists.
Dr. Amayo:I think the reason behind this podcast, is to answer those questions that I've always had issues with since medical school. Why we do a lot of things in psychiatry or why a lot of our medications work
Thanh:we need this because the further and further out we get from a learning environment, The more of those, PRITE neurons atrophy
Dr. Handratta:this podcast was created for education purpose.
Dr. Amayo:but I think it definitely gives a good framework of how to one, understand your patients, understand our therapies, and basically just understand psychiatry.
Edmund:As a medical student I would definitely recommend this podcast for any medical student or trainee looking to understand a little bit more about psychiatry
Dr. Amayo:And I think this is the first step in me understanding and hopefully our listeners understand a lot of the why in psychiatry.
Thanh:Subscribe now so you don't miss an episode. New episodes every Wednesday. See you this Wednesday.
